McKay Otto's body of work, begs the question of the possibilities that can be found within the cross-pollination among mediums. His inquiries are an extension of the idea that art can be made out of any material. Through an investigation of mediums, Otto implores the material for clues. Dealing with the themes of light, translucence, simplicity, and silence, his work combines the quiet concentration of meditation with a focused intensity, which he often describes as “Trans-dimensional.”

McKay Otto received a BBA from the University of Texas in Austin and was mentored by renowned minimalist painter Agnes Martin. Otto presently lives and works in his studio near Wimberley, Texas.
