Rooted in narrative, history and identity, these self-portraits address the current political climate and the culture of political hegemony. The character archetypes are physical manifestations of emotion and perception. Endowed with both natural and unnatural features, the characters and scenes narrate themes of power, war, and trauma. The details in gesture, expression, and costume point towards the history of presidential portraiture, colonization and patriarchy.
